Intellectual Property The protection of intellectual property can be as complex as your business. Intellectual property is usually defined as creations of the mind: inventions, artistic works, literary works and symbols, names, images, and designs used in commerce. Intellectual property is divided into two categories: Industrial property, which includes inventions (patents), trademarks, industrial designs, and geographic indications of source; and Copyright, which includes literary and artistic works such as novels, films, musical works, drawings, paintings, photographs, sculptures, and architectural designs. Cary & Lippincott does not protect or litigate cases related to patents, and suggests that you seek an attorney familiar with patent cases (preferably a patent lawyer). However, we do register and help protect interests in trademarks and copyrights. If you have a legal issue related to Business Formation or selection of an entity, please contact Marc Lippincott for an appointment to discuss. |
